All-England badminton championships 2008

Bad news again from All-England badminton championships in Birmingham! Our defending champions Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong crashed out of the All-England badminton championships in the first round yesterday, losing to unseeded Japanese pair Shuichi Sakamoto-Shintaro Ikeda. Oh my god! Once again, they lost to the Japanese pair who had defeated them in the World Championships in Kuala Lumpur last year.

Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong Lost in Malaysia Open 2008

Malaysia Open 2008

Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah and Chan Chong Ming-Chew Choon Eng has moved into the quarter-finals in the Malaysian Open badminton championships 2008. This should be very great news to us, but the celebrations were muted following the shocking exit of defending champions Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil last night. Once again! I really do not understand what happened to them again.

The pair lost in their second round when they met the former world champions Lars Paaske-Jonas Rasmussen of Denmark. Besides, The world number one pair struggled to beat third-ranked Indonesians Hendra Gunawan-Joko Riyadi in their opening match on Wednesday.

Congratulations to Wong Mew Choo

Congratulations to our number 1 woman single, Wong Mew Choo. She really made all of us surprise. The 24-year-old Wong Mew Choo showed that nothing was impossible when she overcame one Chinese player after another to bag her first ever-Open title. She defeated world champion Zhu Lin (in the quarter-finals), Athens Olympic Games winner Zhang Ning (semi-finals) and world number one Xie Xingfang (final). She is not the first time to win world number one Xie Xing Fang.

Bad news in the Badminton World Championships 2007

This is very sad that there is no player able to enter to the Proton-BWF Badminton World Championships 2007 as I had bought the ticket for the finals tomorrow. What a sad day for me yesterday when my favourite duo pair Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong beaten by Japan’s number two pair of Shuichi Sakamoto-Shintaro Ikeda.

Sudirman Cup in Glasgow

Our top doubles pair Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong once again unable to perform good in the Sudirman Cup (mixed team world championships). Their inept performance in the Malaysian against China in the Sudirman Cup in Glasgow has made their coach Rexy Mainaky not pleased with them. He decided to pull them out of the Thailand Open next month. Oh, that’s bad news for their fans huh..

You say sad or not, even before I reach there, one of Malaysia’s hope in men’s single, Mohd Hafiz Hashim was sent packing home by Indonesia’s Simon Santoso in the first round only! How could a previous All England champion lost so tamely like that?

Doesn’t matter, let’s see how Malaysia Number 1 single player Lee Chong Wei fare facing Simon Santoso.

If you are working and can’t join me in Jakarta, don’t worry OK. You can watch live scoring online with Visual LiveScore.
