Fish Poisoning in Langkawi Underwater World

Have you been to Langkawi Underwater World? I have been to the tourist attraction once last year when we had trip to Pulau Langkawi. Although it’s not as new and good compare our new Aquaria KLCC or Singapore’s Underwater World, but it’s still a important tourist point in Pulau Langkawi.

But, there is a bad news about the Langkawi Underwater World(UWL). About 600 fish worth hundreds of thousands of ringgit have mysteriously died at Langkawi Underwater World.

Langkawi Underwate World

Police believe the fish, which included sharks and stingrays, were poisoned. They have also not ruled out sabotage as the fish started dying en masse just before closing time at 6pm on Monday.

Among the sharks that died were the black teeth, white teeth, leopard and nurse sharks. Yesterday morning hundreds of fish carcasses were floating in the hexagonal and tunnel tanks at the old wing of the UWL.

UWL workers managed to save about 30 fish in the smaller tanks. Samples including water and carcasses have been taken for chemical analysis.

He said the freshwater and marine life section at UWL has been temporarily closed to visitors to facilitate the investigation. UWL houses 4,000 animals and sea creatures in 100 specially designed tanks.

It’s so sad to see such amount of fishes died in 1 night. We must find out who are the killer.

Police say? OMG. Is that mean there is NO marine biologist to take care the multi-millions aquarium? It cannot be “Police believe it is poisoning”! They don’t possess any knowledge on marine life. The info should come from professional.

Oh my. Yet another dysfunctional thesis.

Oh my, that is so disheartening. I’ve been to the underwater world back in 2002. Sigh.
