Sudirman Cup in Glasgow

Our top doubles pair Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong once again unable to perform good in the Sudirman Cup (mixed team world championships). Their inept performance in the Malaysian against China in the Sudirman Cup in Glasgow has made their coach Rexy Mainaky not pleased with them. He decided to pull them out of the Thailand Open next month. Oh, that’s bad news for their fans huh..

Rexy said they will not be going for any tournaments and will train at home to prepare for the World Championships which will be held in Kuala Lumpur in August. Ya, that’s good plannning. I hope they can trained up to be more consistant and powerful for the important World Championships. Rexy also preferred to keep them at home and wont send them for China and Philippines Opens.

“They played like they do not have brains and I think it’s better for them to stay home and train for the World Championships. They have a lot of work to do on their partnership. Kien Keat also likes to show off a lot and this is not good. I will talk to them when they come back and see what they need to improve on,” said Rexy, who did not go to Glasgow because he had to train the other national doubles pairs at home for the upcoming three Open events.

Wow, looks like Rexy really upset and wrath with their poor performance lately. So, I hope our world number 2 pair Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong listen to coach’s advise, we hope you can compete in Olympics 2008 next year.

Malaysia settled for sixth position in the Sudirman Cup after going down 2-3 to Denmark in a Division One play-off tie in Glasgow yesterday. Aii, so sad. But in the men’s double game, Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong beaten up Jens Eriksen-Martin Lundgaard Hansen with straight game 23-21 and 21-16.
